Video: BMW 530e Sport PHEV review

I’m going to go on a limb and confess; as a plug-in hybrid, the BMW 530e Sport is far from a finished product. Unless and only unless you’re able and willing to plug it into a wall socket every time you step out of it, expect fuel consumption figures to be less than favourable.

On the larger scale of things though, I still believe the 530e Sport is a decent starting point for the 5-series in venturing into the PHEV game. For what it lacks, the 530e Sport makes up for it in the drive – despite carrying substantially more weight, as I’ve explained in the video.

To decide whether or not you should opt for this or the more expensive 530i M Sport, I’d like to first invite you to find out what else may or may not bother you – in the first ever 5-series to feature plug-in hybrid technology.

Regularly spend countless hours online looking at cars and parts I can't afford to buy. How a car makes you feel behind the wheel should be more important than the brand it represents - unless resale value is your thing.
