What is better than kissing? Getting a Sports Car, says Ford

Ford wanted to find out what activities give the human mind Buzz Moments – a feeling of heightened emotions associated with thrills and excitement that contributes to overall well-being.

To test the theory out, the blue oval put participants through a series of tests to find out whether, riding a roller coaster, sharing a passionate kiss with a loved one or getting behind the wheel of a Ford Performance car generates the highest Buzz.

Working with neuroscientists, they found that participants who sat behind the wheel of a Mustang, Focus RS and even the Focus ST experienced an average of 2.1 high-intensity buzz moments during a typical commute. The only activity that supersedes the high-performance cars is a roller coaster ride that charted an average of 3 buzz moments.

As for other activities, the participants averaged 1.7 on a shopping trip, 1.5 while watching Game of Thrones or a football match. How about sharing a kiss and fine dining with your other half? None.

Dr Harry Witchel, Discipline Leader in Physiology at the University of Sussex, UK said “A roller coaster may be good for a quick thrill, but it’s not great for getting you to work every day. This study shows how driving a performance car does much more than get you from A to B – it could be a valuable part of your daily well-being routine.”

So, there you have it, dear readers, science says buy that high-performance car you’ve been eyeing for the longest time – its good for you.
