The much anticipated evil twin of the is officially launched, however, with a lot lesser horsepower from it. The McLaren MP4-12C GT3 has 100 horses lesser than the road version, hence only producing 500 horsepower. According to McLaren, to provide optimum power for a performance-balanced race car, they have to get rid of some extra muscles.

With the same 3.8-liter twin turbo V8 engine as the street version but less horsepower, the GT3 has been fine tuned aerodynamically to make up for the loss in output. “The 12C GT3 will be supplied with the 12C’s carbon MonoCell and the same steering wheel design employed by Lewis Hamilton in his MP4-24 Formula 1 car,” said Martin Whitmarsh, CEO McLaren Group.
